Seminars 4 Worship: Augusta, GA

Greetings, blogging world!  I’m Baaa-ack!  Older blogs will become available as I have time to enter them.

Since we last spoke I designed a full new website, so browse around a bit and get a feel for the place.  Let me know if you have any ideas for making it more comfortable.

Well, though I still have every intention of blogging more about The Forge Conference, I just returned from another conference – this time as an “attendee” instead of a speaker. Integrity Music just hosted a Seminars 4 Worship conference in Augusta, GA, featuring, among others, Paul Baloche, Brian Doerkson, & Kathryn Scott.  If a church were only to use the familiar favorites of these three artists they would never lack material, but what impressed me most is seeing the hearts of these individuals.  Paul’s “blue collar” practical approach to worship-leading, which shines through in every aspect of who he is, Brian’s depth brought about by walking with God through some uncommon trials, and Kathryn’s joyful sense of humor and simple trust – I came home excited to lead and pass along what I picked up to those of our team who couldn’t go, AND excited about listening to their latest collections of originals.

Avoiding a full review, I’ll just name a few new songs that we learned this weekend that you may do well to download and consider introducing to your congregation (some of these we were doing before we went this weekend, but in case you’re not, I’ll list them anyway):
Paul Baloche: “Glorious” & “Just to be with You”
Brian Doerkson: “Welcome to the Place of Level Ground” & “Will You still love Me in the Winter”
Kathryn Scott: “Let it Come” & “We still Believe”

Overall the conference was a beautiful time of fellowship and growing in our skills/giftings, and I enjoyed being with so many of our talented worship volunteers.  Maybe I’ll get to go again next year?

Have you had any encouraging learning opportunities lately?  What were they, & how did you grow?

Amen…
