As my closest friends have learned over the years, on my birthday I don’t prefer huge parties, or being showered with gifts. I tend rather to set aside some quiet time to invest in something that is meaningful for me.
Today, I am honored to announce that Ascension Worship’s CITY WORSHIP PROJECT has recorded & released a song I was a part of bringing to life, “You won’t Stop“.
For any of you who know me, you know that there is little in life that brings me more joy than being able to help give voice to other people’s heart-responses towards God.
Essentially a cooperative effort between Saint Lewis, Ascension Worship (co-writer, Jamie Miley & crew), Benji Cowart, & McKendree Augustas (of August York, & the Kari Jobe band), “You won’t Stop” grew out of short trip to share on co-writing at the National Praise & Worship Institute at Trevecca University in Nashville. When NWPI team-member, Benji, contacted me about the visit, he suggested we write together to prepare for the class. I pitched several ideas, but it was an 80s Synth-Pop inspired hook (long road trips, & 80s retro radio are great sources of inspiration) that ended up sticking. A little on the spiritual origins of the song in the video below…
Brought to life in the studio by a team of Ascension Worship musicians, my brother-n-law & co-writer, McKendree, my sister-in-law, Bethany Presten on harmony vocals (She killed it!), & myself on lead, the final results are now live wherever online music is sold.
Since the heart behind the City Worship Project is to serve the local church, the mp3, detailed chord charts, & other related resources are available for FREE from Ascension’s site!
I believe in this song. If it resonates with you, be encouraged to:
1. If you use Spotify, add it to a worship playlist you turn to regularly
2. Review it on iTunes or Amazon – the more reviews & better ratings make the song easier to find for others
3. Share the free resources with your Worship Pastor/Leader
