I can’t do it without you

Frank Sinatra used to sing what for many is considered the them song for the American dream: “I did it MY WAY.” A mantra to independence – going it alone. And a lie.

1525507_646645908712409_1607326068_nNone of us go it alone with any lasting success – we weren’t made to. The creation story paints a picture of a pair – Adam & Eve – after God confessed, “It is not good for man to be alone.” Ecclesiastes 4:12 states “A cord of three strands is not easily broken” – even God is Father, Son, & Holy Spirit. Being made in His image, we were MADE to be in community. That’s why we have the church… we’re MADE to be with others. [Read more…]

Call me Blessed

This is GOOD NEWS!  This isn’t a new set of rules to obey, but freedom to be EXPERIENCED.

Not long ago a blog post entitled “The One Thing Christians should stop Saying” went so viral that it was picked up & re-published by the Huffington Post.  In it, Presbyterian missionary Scott Dannemiller states that Christians should stop saying we’re “blessed.”  Read the blog to see his point.

He makes one.  Personally, I’m not sure – even as he’s using the word “blessed” – that I agree with it… I see his heart, but Matthew 5:45 states that God makes “…the rain fall on the just and the unjust“… [Read more…]

Everybody Wins

With rise in popularity of iTunes an increasing number of independent artists have – wisely I believe – focused on releasing single or EPs instead of full-lengths, so when I see an independent band release a full-length I often approach it with apprehension. At best, I expect I will download two tracks – the highlights – and the rest of the CD will turn out to be filler. I can count on two fingers how many full-length indie worship records have proven otherwise; Unhindered’s self-titled CD, and “The Church” by Ascension Worship. [Read more…]

Podesla teaches “Your Will”

Saint Lewis’s honorary Atlanta-area guitarist, the amazing Matt Podesla, blessed me with a bit of his time – between Matt Redman shows, and before his tour with John Mark McMillian gets underway – to help give us a detailed lesson on his studio parts for the Saint Lewis single “Your Will”… this is not only educational, but entertaining, & if I didn’t already make it clear, Podesla is an incredible guy. Enjoy!
