A birthday announcement…


As my closest friends have learned over the years, on my birthday I don’t prefer huge parties, or being showered with gifts. I tend rather to set aside some quiet time to invest in something that is meaningful for me.

Late Summer, 2002, I was touring the midwest in support of my CD at the time, when I received an urgent call. I needed to immediately make my way to St. Simons – an island off of coastal Georgia (at the time I didn’t know Georgia HAD a coast), between Savannah, GA & Jacksonville, FL. My job for the Summer?: Worldwide Discipleship Association had assigned me to oversee/disciple the college-aged guy Summer interns when the current leader had to leave due to a family emergency.
