Frank Sinatra used to sing what for many is considered the them song for the American dream: “I did it MY WAY.” A mantra to independence – going it alone. And a lie.

The creation story paints a picture of a pair – Adam & Eve – after God confessed, “It is not good for man to be alone.” Ecclesiastes 4:12 states “A cord of three strands is not easily broken” – even God is Father, Son, & Holy Spirit. With rise in popularity of iTunes an increasing number of independent artists have – wisely I believe – focused on releasing single or EPs instead of full-lengths, so when I see an independent band release a full-length I often approach it with apprehension. At best, I expect I will download two tracks – the highlights – and the rest of the CD will turn out to be filler. Saint Lewis’s honorary Atlanta-area guitarist, the amazing Matt Podesla, blessed me with a bit of his time – between Matt Redman shows, and before his tour with John Mark McMillian gets underway – to help give us a detailed lesson on his studio parts for the Saint Lewis single “Your Will”… this is not only educational, but entertaining, & if I didn’t already make it clear, Podesla is an incredible guy. ShannonLive2013A unique special event took place just a few weeks ago – a partnership between local churches spearheaded by Fred McKinnon which resulted in a beautiful night of God-glorifying corporate singing.  Given that Saint Lewis is a multi-church band 3 of our 5 core members were on stage, as well as 2 of our regular guest musicians, and it was at my former church, St. Simons Community Church, so I felt right at home!
