Honestly, I don’t really have adequate words for this… when I stop to think about it, I tear up & my mind gets jumbled. Read the details in their own words.
On the day that I submitted “Your Will” to be published & made available for purchase, Bobby Gilles, co-writer & friend, & his wife Kristen were gearing up to enter the hospital to give birth to their new son, Parker. On the day that “Your Will” went live on iTunes, they announced the date of little Parker’s funeral.
There are no words that come close, as Cyle & I are expecting our own soon. This hits incredibly close to home.
Bobby said, “I’ve meditated a lot on these lyrics in the course of our son’s death; ‘I’m laying down my will — I choose You …’”
We think it’s no accident that Bobby was a co-writer on “Your Will”. Shortly after we heard the news, we were in the car listening to a mix of our new song, and as we listened we thought about little Parker, and the unbelievable grace we have seen in the Gilles as they continue to bless the Lord and worship Him in the face of personal loss. Their reliance upon the Lord is inspiring.
Cyle & I have decided to be “laying down [our] will” during this time and for the rest of this month (October), all proceeds from the sale of “Your Will” through iTunes will go directly to the Gilles to assist with medical bills or anything else. The first few days of a song’s release is when the most significant sales take place, and it means that they’ll get the money right before Christmas (according to iTunes timeline) & that just feels RIGHT.
If you like, you can also donate directly instead of (or on top of) downloading the song (send me an email at saintlewis@bellsouth.net for more info), or you could also purchase Bobby & Kristen’s own recordings if you don’t already own them – all are excellent options.
Please help us make this have the greatest impact possible – spread the word. I hope you will partner with us in blessing our friends, co-writers, & brothers & sisters in Christ.
Amen.
P.S. – if you are new to Saint Lewis & my blog, and would like more information about the writing/recording process of the song “Your Will”, read Bobby’s blog HEAR YOUR WILL, & my blogs SAINT LEWIS RETURNS TO THE STUDIO, & SAINT LEWIS ON ITUNES.
